Infrastructure, land use, and real estate development are intrinsically linked. Over the coming years, U.S. communities face many challenges that will be difficult to manage, including a lack of housing affordability, entrenched inequities in the built environment, and a changing climate. These issues are compounded by the combined challenge of maintaining current infrastructure while needing to invest in forward-looking infrastructure. As the United States prepares to make the largest infrastructure investment in a generation, an opportunity exists for ULI members and key partners to identify and promote more equitable and resilient infrastructure investments that create both long-term real estate and community value.

Guided by the Curtis Infrastructure Initiative’s Prioritizing Effective Infrastructure-Led Development: A ULI Infrastructure Frameworkthe Infrastructure and Land Use Exchange is a regularly scheduled series of meetings to facilitate conversations and dialogues between ULI members, District Council staff, other global experts, and HQ staff. This is intended to help promote the most innovative and/or effective best practices for infrastructure investment. Meetings serve as an opportunity to share and exchange ideas with a presentation on an infrastructure topic, project/program updates from District Councils, and a conversation between attendees. The exchange is intended to foster better ULI collaboration, program and research ideas, funding opportunities, and help facilitate the right types of infrastructure investment.

The focus of each session’s initial presentation will be the following:

    • February 17, 2022: Restorative Investment, Equity, and Sustainability
    • April 12, 2022: ULI Infrastructure Forum at the ULI Spring Meeting (separate registration)
    • June 16, 2022: Public Transportation and Mobility
    • August 18, 2022: Global Threat of Climate Change
    • October 2022: ULI Infrastructure Forum at the ULI Fall Meeting (separate registration)
    • December 15, 2022: Broadband and Real Estate
    • February 16, 2023: Increasing Housing Attainability
