“An Opportunity to Reshape the Regional Center” – AIA Indianapolis January Program

ULI members are invited to join AIA Indianapolis at the Thursday, Jan. 25 program, a discussion on the proposed I65/I70 split downtown highway reconstruction. The event is open and free to the public. Register here.

From AIA Indianapolis:

Plans are underway to renovate and expand the I65/I70 Highway split around downtown Indy. If done correctly, this $250 million project has the potential to elevate our city’s brand, enhance our urban communities, and generate incredible redevelopment opportunities. If done poorly, this project will only add to the noise, congestion and dirt, further isolate downtown neighborhoods, and be a detractor from the forward-thinking image we all want for our city.

Many other cities are facing the same type of transportation growth issues and have studied and implemented alternatives to the status quo of urban highway expansion. Now is the time for Indianapolis to leverage this unique opportunity/investment: What other design alternatives might be considered to enhance the Regional Center and our Indy Brand through this massive highway reconstruction project?

What will be the impact of the realignment of the I65 / I70 Split in Indianapolis? What can it be?
