Etkin Scholars
The ULI Etkin Scholars Program, made possible by the philanthropic support of Bruce Etkin, introduces college and university students to the resources available through ULI membership and seeks to integrate those students into the ULI path of learning. Through this program, ULI District Councils identify a cohort of graduate and undergraduate students and provide them with a welcoming and concrete entrée into ULI knowledge at the local and national levels with funding support, free ULI student membership, creative programming, networking, and learning opportunities throughout the academic year of their scholarship. The students supported through this program shall be recognized as Etkin Scholars.
The ULI Etkin Scholars Program is designed to develop future leaders in commercial real estate and related fields by providing students with access to professional resources, networking, and educational opportunities through the Urban Land Institute (ULI). The program connects students with local ULI District Councils and offers a comprehensive introduction to real estate and land use disciplines.
- Program benefits and resources: Scholars receive all benefits of a ULI Associate Membership, including access to member directories, knowledge databases, case studies, magazines, discounts on events and books, leadership opportunities, free local events, specialized programming, and on-demand real estate courses. They can also join ULI at a student rate after the program ends.
- Participation requirements: Students must attend specific scholar programs, webinars, and complete most of the ULI Explore & Connect events, create a detailed profile, and engage with ULI content. Participation is typically for one year, with an option to reapply for a second year if still enrolled.
- Eligibility and selection criteria: The program is open to students enrolled in accredited institutions in Canada, the United States, or Mexico, ideally pursuing careers related to commercial real estate. Selection considers academic standing, professor recommendations, leadership potential, commitment to ULI principles, and support for diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
