Chris Boardman, AIA, LEED AP
Principal / Director of Design Operations
RATIO
Chris Boardman is the Director of Design for RATIO, an international design firm known for its thoughtful approach to problem solving. The challenges we face as organizations, cities, and societies are becoming increasingly complex & interconnected and Chris believes that thoughtful design has the power to lead us to better outcomes. To do that he advocates and empowers RATIO’s design teams to think about the whole system not just the individual parts, engage with more voices not always like our own, and be bold enough to stretch our imagination beyond what we believe is possible. Chris leads a series of interdisciplinary Practice Areas within RATIO that focus on advancing the firm’s design delivery processes, discovering and developing new knowledge, integrating new technologies that advance both efficiencies and effectiveness, and fostering a more empathic & equitable culture within the studio and in RATIO’s approach to the firm’s work.
For more than 20 years, Chris has brought this same thoughtful approach to working with clients in higher-education, workplace, & community-based projects throughout the Midwest and Mountain Regions. Notable work includes the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering at Purdue University, KAR Global Headquarters, and an $85M facility for the number one aerospace engineering program in the country at the University of Colorado. He also served on the board of the Central Indiana Land Trust and chaired the committee on Greening the Crossroads, a vision for a reconnected natural infrastructure for Central Indiana.
