Guidelines are intended to honor the past while allowing sustainable growth at a range of price points
The City of Indianapolis is requesting public comment on Infill Housing Guidelines (2021 update), part of the Comprehensive Plan for Marion County. The goal of the Infill Housing Guidelines is to help preserve neighborhood pattern and character by providing guiding principles for new construction to coexist within the context of adjacent homes, blocks, and existing neighborhoods.
The Infill Housing Guidelines provide recommendations for decision-makers, developers, the public, and City staff on using context to drive design, and should be used in coordination with the Zoning Ordinance and other elements of the Comprehensive Plan as a starting point for considering individual requests for variances, rezoning, or other appropriate circumstances.
These guidelines attempt to allow for flexibility and innovation in policy, building, and site design, and to honor the past while allowing sustainable growth at a range of price points.
