In his keynote address, Councilor Vop Osili will discuss the current state of the City of Indianapolis—the challenges, successes, and assets—along with a vision for the future of central Indiana in the coming decades. Participants will understand how they can make impact to shape positive change and move the city forward.

    9:15-10am | Redeveloping: Panel Discussion and Q&A
    • Tammy Butler Robinson, Co-Owner and Managing Principal, Engaging Solutions
    • Trinity Hart, Managing Principal, Storie Co. Development
    • Michael Osborne, President, Near North Development Corp.
    • Moderator: Deb Kunce, FAIA, Vice President, Construction Advisory Services, J.S. Held LLC
The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated many trends, exposed and exacerbated deep-seated inequities, and changed perspectives about how communities should be developed. This multidisciplinary panel—featuring community development, community engagement, and real estate development experts—will discuss how the outcomes of 2020 are driving their approaches to engagement and development moving forward. Panelists will discuss questions
    such as:
    • How have the past several months changed how we approach neighborhood development/redevelopment
    • What are the most effective strategies for community engagement and empowerment?
    • What types of facilities are now needed based upon the needs of today and tomorrow?
    • What other development tools, strategies, and systemic changes are relevant in a post-pandemic world?
    10-10:30am | Revitalizing: Presentations, Q&A, and Discussion
    • Mark Fisher, Chief Policy Officer, Indy Chamber
    • Scarlett Andrews Martin, Director, Department of Metropolitan Development, City of Indianapolis
    • Moderator: Paul Angelone, Senior Director, Urban Land Institute
In this presentation followed by a Q&A and discussion, community leaders will address immediate and future needs, covering:
    • Challenges and opportunities in downtown Indianapolis, including COVID’s impact on office demands, the affordability mix, the sporting and convention market, and the activation of public spaces.
    • Significant development opportunities around downtown Indianapolis and beyond.
    • How trends and shifting demographics are driving initiatives in Central Indiana.
    • Federal-level resources and ULI offerings that can be applied to Indianapolis’ challenges and opportunities.
10:30-11am | Reconnecting and Progressing: Shared Insights, Key Takeaways, and Q&A
