    Join ULI Indiana for the third installment of our series related to Indianapolis’ participation the American Cities Climate Challenge, a Bloomberg Philanthropies program designed to accelerate efforts to tackle climate change and promote a sustainable future for residents of 25 cities.
     
    At our April 15 program, national and local speakers will cover:
    • driving factors for an electrified transportation system,
    • background on Thrive Indianapolis and the American Cities Climate Challenge,
    • levels of electrical vehicle (EV) readiness,
    • the national policy landscape of EV readiness, especially as it relates to the real estate industry, and
    • an overview of the City of Indianapolis’ EV-readiness policy plans.

    The event will conclude with virtual rooms for networking, with one room featuring Eddie Honea, Senior Planner for Code Revision with the City of Indianapolis, Department of Metropolitan Development, who will answer specific questions about the EV ordinance.

    Speakers

    Matt Mosier

    Senior Manager Office of Sustainability, City of Indianapolis

    As Senior Manager at the City of Indianapolis Office of Sustainability, Matt Mosier currently manages the Knozone program, which educates children about air quality and active forms of transportation. Through the American Cities Climate Challenge and various partners, Matt is also working on a multi-year electric vehicle adoption plan for central Indiana. The plan includes market research, corporate EV ride and drive events, dealership engagement and digital media to educate the public and further EV market transformation. For more than 15 years, Matt managed EPA\State-delegated Clean Air Act permitting and compliance programs.

    Matt Stephens-Rich

    Program Manager, Electrification Coalition

    Matt has worked in transportation, energy, and alternative fuels since 2012 at the local, state, and federal level. As Electric Vehicle Specialist for the Smart Columbus program, Matt coordinates various electric vehicle fleet deployments and charging initiatives, while also providing insight to consumer adoption. Prior to joining the Electrification Coalition, Matt served as Project Manager at Clean Fuels Ohio, the nation’s largest U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities Coalition. Matt was also a lead grant writer for the City of Columbus’ Smart City Challenge Grant Application. Matt holds a master’s in public administration from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University with a focus in Energy Policy, and a B.A. in communication with Public Relations Certification from the University of Cincinnati. Matt currently serves as Vice Chair for the Energy and Air Quality Working Group at the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Founding Chair of the Young Professionals in Energy Columbus Chapter, and was recognized as “Person to Know in Energy” by Columbus Business First in 2017.

    Eddie Honea

    City of Indianapolis

    A Senior Planner for the City of Indianapolis, Eddie Honea offers customer service in ordinance interpretation as well as preparing amending ordinances for the City. He started with Department of Metropolitan Development in 2014, was promoted to Senior Planner in the Current Planning-Petitions section and assumed his current role in 2018. Born in El Paso, Texas and raised in Indianapolis, Eddie graduated with honors from the College of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University in 2012.

    Shannon Norman

    Principal Planner, Current Planning, Department of Metropolitan Development, City of Indianapolis

    Shannon Norman is Principal Planner for the City of Indianapolis. Prior to joining the Department of Metropolitan Development in 2017, she served as the City Planning Director for the City of Greencastle, Indiana, where she worked for 12 years under for three mayoral administrations. An active member with the Indiana Chapter of the American Planning Association, Shannon attended Valparaiso University and completed her master’s degree in urban and regional planning at the University of New Orleans.
