ULI Indiana accepting applications for real estate diversity initiative
Scholar applications for ULI Indiana's Diversity Initiative are due Dec. 6.
December 17, 2019
Emerging Trends in Real Estate® 2020, released by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and PwC, has ranked Indianapolis in the top 20 “Markets to Watch” for overall real estate prospects in investment and development. Based on past reports ULI has on file, the #16 ranking is the highest Indianapolis has scored. Indianapolis ranked #19 in the 2019 report.
Now in its 41st year, Emerging Trends in Real Estate® is one of the most highly regarded annual industry outlooks for the real estate and land use industry. It includes interviews and survey responses from more than 2,200 leading real estate experts, including investors, fund managers, developers, property companies, lenders, brokers, advisers and consultants.
According to the report, real estate in the U.S. remains a favored asset class, even as economic uncertainty looms and forces of change related to the environment, infrastructure, demographics, consumer behavior, and technology are necessitating flexibility in space design, development and business operations. The publication cites adaptability to change along with discipline as key factors in the industry’s ability to withstand an economic downturn and the possibility of softer real estate demand in the years ahead.
Coinciding with the report, ULI Indiana—the local ULI district council—will host its 12th annual signature event, “Real Estate Trends 2020,” on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at the Indiana State Museum. The event will feature presentations by Andrew Warren, director of real estate research at PwC and co-author of Emerging Trends in Real Estate®, and Joe Minicozzi, principal at Urban3 in Asheville, N.C., an urban planning firm.
Warren’s presentation will cover the takeaways and other findings from Emerging Trends in Real Estate® 2020. Minicozzi’s presentation, “Economics of Land Use: $ and Sense of Building Indianapolis,” will explore the imperfections of property tax valuation and the relative return for Indianapolis from different development patterns.
